Spelling of title
[edit]Shouldn't this title read "List of post-Vietnam Medal of Honor recipients"? I'm not sure why "post" is capitalized here and set off as a separate word. I don't want to change it unilaterally, though, in case there's a logical reason. -- Khazar2 (talk) 02:47, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- You appear to be correct. That is my fault, I will go ahead and change it.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 16:26, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
Ryan Pitts
[edit]It was just announced yesterday (6/23/14) that SSGT Ryan Pitts will be awarded the MOH on July 21. I'm not sure what the protocol is - should I add him now, or wait until that date? GoldTY (talk) 03:42, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- It seems to be common practice here to start an article when the award is officially announced (given wide coverage in reliable sources), with the proviso that the article correctly represents that the award has been announced and not actually awarded. See WP:CRYSTALBALL for a relevant policy. —RCraig09 (talk) 13:06, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, so a number of papers (WashPo, USA Today, Boston Globe, ArmyTimes.com, etc.) and the White House website (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/06/23/president-obama-award-medal-honor) have all reported this. So I'm going to go ahead and add him now. GoldTY (talk) 15:50, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
Inconsistent ranks in table
[edit]There doesn't seem to be any consistency as to the rank given for various recipients. Some are listed with the rank they held at the time of the action that resulted in the citation, others are listed with a rank they attained at some point after that action. Shouldn't the list of recipients reflect the rank held at the time of the cited action (which is always given in the citation for any US military award)? --SEWalk (talk) 06:03, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Rank at the time of action cited seems reasonable. EricSerge (talk) 15:52, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Exactly why I came here... but it's not consequently done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:7E8:D39F:A901:8540:E30B:D362:5C4C (talk) 20:47, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Column for year of award
[edit]Would there be any objection to adding a column to each table for the year when the Medal of Honor was awarded? This seems like a piece of information readers would want. RCTodd (talk) 16:34, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- Presentation details are usually included in individual biographies. It could be restricted to the year but the actual date may be a better idea. It there is room consider who presented the award and where it was presented. Awards for the Vietnam War are the first conflict in which the majority were presented by the President with many others, posthumous awards, presented by the Vice President. The rest were presented for secretaries except for one under-secretary and one brigadier-general. Anthony Staunton (talk) 13:33, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
